Soccer Program: Spring and Fall Programs
Vienna Rec offers a spring and fall soccer league
Division are:
Pre-K 3 to Pre-K 4: Vienna Rec Academy Soccer
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Juniors Division
3rd Grade to 5thGrade: Elementary Division
6th Grade to 8thGrade: Middle School Division
Games will be held at the Vienna Rec Fields on field 4 in fall and spring is played at Jackson Field. Academy Soccer will be a combination of skills and game play. Every Saturday all 3 and 4 year olds will be brought together to work on soccer skills for the first half hour, then will play in scrimmage to learn the basics of the game. We are trying this to get our little ones more touches on a soccer ball and hopefully get them excited to play in our Junior league. Small Kindergartners are also welcome to try out our Academy Soccer.
Soccer Cost: League play cost per player is $40 per player. Vienna Rec’s Academy Soccer will be $30 per player.
Season: Spring practices start in April, games in May and June. Fall practices start in August with games in September and October.
Adult Soccer
Adult Soccer is offered in the spring and fall for any person over 18 years of age and out of high school. This is a fast paced league. It's fun to play and fun to watch.
Vienna Rec’s Academy Soccer: Spring and Fall Programs
This is an exciting program for 3 and 4 year olds wanting to learn more about soccer. It will coached by some very experienced travel soccer coaches and volunteers. First time kindergarteners are welcome to participate.
Soccer is based around passing and movement, technique and skill. Incorporating the principles of fair play, teamwork, expression and fun! Our goal is to teach these skill through a fun, hands-on type environmental. Objective is to teach and or model positive attitude, team work, good sportsmanship, and respect. Players need to respect their team mates, opponents, coach and the referees. In order to get the best out of a team, it's important to appreciate the efforts of those around you. If you fail to respect the opponent you underestimate their potential, which can make your own standards fall below your usual level. Soccer should be played in the spirit of fair play, encouragement and fun.
The Vienna Rec’s Soccer Academy will offer these young players more touches on a soccer ball and hopefully get them excited to play in our league.
This program will be offered starting in mid April and runs to early June. Specific dates to be determined. Program will be every Saturday all 3 and 4 year olds. It will start off with soccer skills for the first half hour, followed by scrimmage. Small Kindergartners are also welcome to try out our Soccer Academy. Experienced soccer coaches will be on hand to facilitate the program. Additional volunteers and parents will be needed to make the program a success. Please consider volunteering.
Vienna Rec’s Academy Soccer will be $30 per player.
Season: There are no practices for academy. Program is offered Saturday mornings. Spring season is April to end of mid-June. Fall season is September and October.
Basketball
Youth Basketball:
Vienna Rec offers youth basketball and Instructional Basketball Programs. Basketball is for all ages. Students wanting to learn basic basketball skills have a great opportunity in a low stress, non-competitive, fun environment on Saturday mornings in our instructional program. The instructional program will be focusing on dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive tactics. Teamwork lessons and eye-hand coordination challenges are presented in fun ways!
Pre-K to 2nd Grade: Instructional Program (Vienna Elementary School Gym)
3rd Grade to 5thGrade: Elementary Division (Jackson Middle)
6th Grade to 8thGrade: Middle School Division (Jackson Middle)
9th-12th Grade: High School Division (Jackson Middle)
Cost: High School Division will be $45 per player. All other divisions will be $40 per player.
Season: Basketball Games are normally 1st Saturday/Sunday in January to mid-March
Adult Basketball:
Vienna Rec’s adult baseball is a fun fast paced league played at Jackson Middle School. League is run by volunteers but with paid certified referees. Must be 18 and older to play in the league.
Cost: $75 per player.
Season: Adult Basketball league will start first weekend in January and run to mid-March.
Disc Golf Program
Vienna Rec is exciting to announce the formation of Disc Golf Program. We offer league play and clinics. This is a great sport to learn and play at any age. At the clinic, instructors will teach you everything you need to know to play the game, game ethics and the difference between the various discs. Vienna Rec will be announcing registration for league play program on the website and Facebook.
League is for 1st to 8th Grades and no experiences is necessary. Meet at the Disc Golf Couse near the Vienna Rec Building off Rosmar Road.
Cost: League play is only $40 per player and we are planning to offer a disc depending on availability.
Season: Offer spring, summer and fall program.
Football (Flag and Tackle)
Our youth flag football program is for K-12th grade and is perfect for families who want their young athletes to learn to play one of America’s favorite sports with less risk than tackle.
The primary difference between flag football and tackle is that flag is a “no contact” game. Like tackle football, teams run or pass the ball down field in order to score a touchdown. Instead of tackling the ball carrier, defensive players attempt to pull the flags off the ball carrier’s belt. Once a flag is pulled, the player is considered “down”.
Jerseys and flag belts are included in your registration fees. Any athletic shorts may be used buy cannot have pockets.
This year for the kindergarten-2nd grade level we are offering two divisions.
K-2nd Competitive league play: This is for children who have a better understanding of how flag football works and they will be playing against a higher level of competition. There will be an assessment, and if we feel the child isn’t ready for this league we will have that conversation with the parents. Cost is $40 (includes football shirt)
K-2nd Recreation league: This level of play is more focused towards teaching the basics and learning the game. They will practice on the same days and same time as the competitive league, and have a weekly game throughout the season to get the player the game time needed to develop. Cost is $40 (Includes football shirt)
Flag Football: $40/player
Age Group: K-12th Graders
Tackle Football: Youth tackle football is coming back to Vienna and is organized by the Vienna Youth Football, VYF, which is separate from VRIA. VYF will be participating in the Ohio River Valley Youth Football League. If you attend any school in Vienna, you will be required by the league to play for Vienna unless you have played for another team for more than one year. If you attend Emerson Elementary, and you are in the Jackson Middle School district, then you will play for Vienna. Vienna Youth Football. Softball
Girls softball has grown is the US and become a favorite for many families to watch on ESPN. Softball as well and many sports will improve hand-eye coordination and cardiovascular health. The game involves running, batting, sliding, and throwing, making it a great way to build muscle strength and increase endurance.
Softball Divisions:
- U8 (Coach Pitch)
- U10 (Player Pitch)

- U18 Division
Coaches are needed for all divisions. If you are interested in helping as a coordinator, coach or assistant coach, or other role, please let us know. Coaches can also registration online.
Softball games will be played on fields 5-6 and occasional travel to other team’s home fields.
Cost: League play cost per player is $40 per player.
Season: A fall and spring softball season is offered.
Tennis
Vienna Recreation Tennis Program is a great opportunity to learn how to play tennis or advance your skills from a certified USPTA tennis professional who a state tennis champion, player collegiate tennis and All-American. He has taught professional across the US and trained world class players. Players are introduced to the fundamentals of tennis through activities designed to build a solid foundation for long term athletic development. Activities are focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance and coordination) all while forming the skills necessary to serve, rally and score.
Ages: 5-18 years
Program will run Monday thru Thursday at the Jackson Tennis Courts from 8:00 to 11:30 am. More specific schedule will be developed and provided on first day.
Tentative Program is Monday through Thursday mornings.
- 8:00-8:30: 5-6 Year olds
- 8:30 – 9:30: 7, 8, & 9 year olds
- 9:30 – 10:30: Middle school
- 10:30 – 11:30: High School
Required Equipment
* A tennis racquet suitable for your child's age, size and playing ability.
* A pair of comfortable tennis shoes
* Comfortable Clothing- Whites and light colored garments that do not draw heat.
* Personal Water Bottle- Plenty of fluids, preferably water, are needed during the hot summers. Temperatures can reach as high as 100 degrees on a mid 90 degree day on a tennis court.
* Note- we encourage each participant to have their own racquet for their personal playing preference.
Cost: $40/player
Season: Tennis program tentatively starts week after school ends.
Hockey
Youth floor hockey is played every Saturday starting in January and ending in March. Elementary games are played at Vienna Elementary School Saturday mornings. Middle and High School aged hockey games are played at the Vienna Rec Building. Join us for fast-paced hockey action that everyone will enjoy. Players will participate in games while improving their hand-eye coordination, making new friends, and getting a great workout. Players do not need to know how to skate or even play hockey. Players must be at least in kindergarten.
Vienna Rec floor hockey is a great winter activities that keep players active and healthy. Games are generally scheduled in a manner that a player can participate in both hockey and youth basketball programs.
Cost: Registration fee is $40 per player.
Season: Youth floor hockey games start 1st Saturday in January and end mid-March.
Baseball/T-Ball
Vienna Recreation offers spring and fall baseball and T-ball. Baseball games will be played on Vienna Rec fields 1-3.

Pickleball:
Pickleball is fun, social and friendly! The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game.
Vienna Rec is developing a pickleball program and is starting with “Learn to Play” clinics at Jackson Tennis Courts. As interest grows, we intent to expand opportunities and hopefully is develop a league.
Fall 2023, Vienna Rec will host it’s first adult Instructional program with game play on Thursday evenings starting September 21st. There will be four sessions from 6-8PM on Thursday at Jackson Park Tennis Courts.
Cheer:
Athletes learn the fundamentals of cheerleading and dance. Coaches teach the technical elements of motions, jumps, stunts, and dance routines. Athletes may advance to a higher level by aging up or by testing their skills. Cheer squads will cheer for VRIA Flag Football teams and may cheer for local tackle team. Coaches and parents will discuss participation in any competitions.
